TABOO: My Religion vs. MY Faith

Tuesday, September 17th, 4:30-6pm, Blanchard 227. Taboo Extreme Dialogues: How taboo is it to hold values and ethical beliefs that don’t match with the majority doctrines of your church, temple, mosque, or that of your family? Are there respectful ways to negotiate the differences, or does being faithful, and/or religious require the individual to adapt to the ways of the church? Are there limits to adaptability - for both the mosque and the individual? Do the decisions of religious communities ever become ‘too political’, or do politics ever become “too lacking” in faith? How do you name and claim your own FAITH? Facilitators: Annette McDermott (Chaplain to the College), Hannah Trost (Student Programs)
